“By sharing pictures of their DAA charity shop finds, our supporters on social media play a big part in spreading the news of our fantastic collections,” says Chrissie Peel, Retail Operations Manager at the charity.
“It is always exciting for our hardworking team to see how the items they have carefully prepared and listed have found a happy new home with a customer.”
Sharing charity shop finds is a popular social activity among savvy shoppers and sustainability advocates alike. Curating unique secondhand styles and pre-loved looks is a great way to inspire more people to become part of the circular economy and to help avoid a dependency on fast fashion.
“I’ve always been a fan of thrifting and hunting around the charity shops to discover hidden treasures,” says secondhand shopping fan, Emma.
“Lockdown interrupted that, but then I found the Devon Air Ambulance online secondhand shop and there are so many fantastic quality items like vintage jewellery, cashmere tops and exciting garments and I check in regularly to see what’s been added.”
Indeed, the Devon Air Ambulance Retail Team is working covid-safely to process new stock and is busy adding it to the site regularly, while the Instagram channel @shopDaat shows off some of the team’s visual merchandising talent too.
Shop Manager, Donna says, “Creating images for the Instagram page is so much fun. We are truly lucky to have such generous supporters who donate so many beautiful quality items to us.”
It’s 100% thanks to our supporters that we can fill both our physical (when the shops reopen) and virtual rails with items that are high quality and desirable.
